Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.
  3. Add ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 7 minutes.
  4. Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2 minutes to toast the spices.
  5. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, and water or broth. Stir to combine.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer, reduce heat to low, and cook uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until chili thickens.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot with your favorite chili toppings.
