A flavorful and healthy Ground Turkey Pasta that combines lean protein with tender pasta and a savory tomato sauce, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground turkey to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Let simmer for 10 minutes to thicken the sauce and blend flavors.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine thoroughly with the sauce.
  7. Remove from heat and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, try topping with red pepper flakes or serving with a side of garlic bread. You can also swap ground turkey for ground chicken or beef.
