  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  3. Add brown sugar, ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt to the apples; toss until evenly coated.
  4. Stir in melted butter and vanilla extract until the mixture is well combined.
  5. Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle chopped walnuts over the top if using.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
