Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 fresh jalapeños, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • Optional: lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayonnaise, mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper; mix gently until combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
  4. Place patties on the grill and cook for about 4 minutes per side or until desired doneness.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with shredded cheddar cheese and sliced jalapeños; cover to melt the cheese.
  6. Toast burger buns on the grill until lightly browned.
  7. Assemble burgers by placing the cheesy jalapeño patty on the bun and adding optional toppings as desired.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For milder heat, remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeños before slicing, or substitute with green bell peppers.
